Lichfield’s canal trust has received a donation from an association representing traders
afloat on Britain’s waterways.
The Roving Canal Traders Association (RCTA) is a non profit-making organisation run to
help support and promote the diverse array of existing and potential Canal and River Trust
(CRT) registered roving traders.
Any profit made by the RCTA is donated to charity and each year members vote on which
charities should benefit.
This year’s beneficiaries were Lichfield and Hatherton Canals Restoration Trust and the
CRT who were invited to attend the RCTA floating Christmas market held at the
Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham to receive their cheques.
The money donated to LHCRT will go towards the Trust’s Tunnel Vision appeal, a
campaign to raise £1million to install a tunnel under the Cross-City railway line.

The floating traders play an important part in our Huddlesford Heritage Gathering, next held
in September 2019. More on the HHG website.
