Our entry in the 2015 Living Waterways Award - the Heritage Towpath Trail at Tamworth Road - was judged today. This is a competition organised by the Canal & River Trust. The award is for a completed project and the judges were looking to see how much the community was benefiting from the amenity provided. We demonstrated the disabled access and showed that the work on the canal is designed to not interfere with walkers and cyclists use of the towpath.
The judges, Alan Johnson and Phil Chambers were very helpful and clearly impressed by both the HTT and the turnout. They will now meet with the other judges to decide who should go forward to the next round. Short listed finalists will be invited to a dinner in London on 8th October.
A strawberries and cream tea with a drop of bubbly was laid on for supporters and for anyone who just enjoys using the HTT. It was also the first outing for our new flags!
